The European Golf Club was founded in 1989. It has been affiliated to the Italian Golf Federation (FIG) since 1992 and is also a member of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI).
The Club's headquarters, which includes the Secretary's office, is situated within the Club House of the Joint Research Centre (JRC) in Ispra. It is registered as a sports club of the JRC and, along with another twenty five sports clubs, benefits from a dynamic, youthful and international environment.
Founded at a time when golf was seen as an elitist sport in Italy, the Club's aim was to popularise the game, making it accessible to players from all walks of life. In line with this, the Club has introduced many beginners to the sport, whilst also welcoming more experienced players.
During the winter, the Club's golf school offers sheltered lessons in an 800m2 pavilion, preparing members to progress to playing on some of the most beautiful courses in Lombardy and Piedmont.
Tournaments are organised from March to November.
